Appearance

Rose wore two outfits during the game. The first was her normal clothing and the second was her dragoon armor. The textures are ripped from the game discs and give a better view of the details. All of the main characters in Legend of Dragoon were designed to look realistic in order to keep the feel of the game world realistic. They also wanted people to be able to identity a character's personality from their outfit.

Human

Full Body - Human Rose wore a headdress that consisted of two hornlike attachments just above her ears. They were connected to an indigo tiara that appeared to have a jewel set in the center. The headdress was likely meant to give her a demonic apperance in referance to her role as the Black Monster. Contrary to opinion, these horns were not real and purely decoration. Her long black hair hung loose. Rose wore dark magenta lipstick. She also wore a choker that granted her immortality however no such object appears in official artwork.

Rose wore a long-sleeved indigo jacket. The jacket was lined with gold accents with two large buttons at the waist. The sleeves had diamond shaped gold markings at the elbows. She wore indigo gloves as well. These were the same colour as her everything else and were likely made of a similar material. Either over top of the jacket or a part of it was what appears to be chest armor. The chest armor covered Rose's upper chest and neck. It was also accented with gold. Shoulder armor consisted of large shoulder pads and two plates of additional armor over top of the pads. This gave Rose a more imposing look.. These pieces can appear both shiny and dull, depending on the image

Rose also wore a very short skirt. Two pieces of armor covered her hips and sloped down at the back. A small piece of armor covered her front. These were also all indigo with gold markings. The armor was not as bulky as the shoulder armor and may have been made of the same material as the jacket. Finished off the outfit was two different sized boots. Her right boot ended at her upper thigh while her left book ended mid calf. Each was the same indigo colour with gold accents. There was no reason explained in the story as to why Rose would have two different sized boots. A common theory was that the tall boot hides an injury.

Some interesting quotes from the 10/15 Issue of Famitsu refers to the initial character design of Rose:

Iwata Kenichi: "At first, I only did the designs for Ros'e and Dart. Of course, back then Ros'e's hair color was green."

Hasabe Hiroyuki: Yes. In the case of Ros'e, we made her hair black without question. Her outfit's black, her hair is black.... We want people to be able to tell what type of characters they are just by looking at the colors. I guess you can say each character's color matches their personality.

Dragoon

Full Body - Dragoon Rose retained the hornlike headdress in her dragoon form. The colouring however changed to indigo and crimson. Rose also had a larger indigo tiara covered in 6 raised red orbs. These were likely supposed to resemble eyes as many of the dragons in the game had multiple eyes. Rose's hair still hung loose and she had the same makeup. The colour scheme continued to the rest of the armor. Rose had large shoulder armor. The ribbing on them resembled a backbone and ribs. The crimson insets had indigo patterns that continued under the ribbing. The Dragoon wings were attached at the shoulder and were anchored both to the front and back to keep them rigid.

The torso armor was covered with designs and patterns. Many parts were raised and it had an organic appearance. A large crimson jewel was set in the chest. There was also an armored skirt consisting of two large sidepieces covering the hips and they extended to the knee as well as a front and back piece. These were also heavily decorated.

The boots started at the knee and had a large piece of armor covering them. A large crimson jewel was set into the armor. The armor ended at the ankle however the boot is also armored. Rose wore black leggings that are covered in lighter geometric patterns. The leggings may or may not have been designed as armor. Large gloves covered both of Rose's arms. The armor had multiple bits extending from the elbow. These extensions possibly were meant to resemble spines. The armor covered the top of Rose's gloved hands but did not hamper her ability to hold a sword.

The dragon wings extended from the shoulders. They were rather large and were comparable in size to Rose when fully extended. A rigid bar curved upwards to a large circular piece of which the ribs of the wings connected. This bar had crimson edging while the rest was indigo. Fine fragile material made up the wings. Mostly sheer, they appeared to have patterns that resemble veins throughout. The material had gradient colouing. Rose's wings had many different colours depending on the image source. In the official artwork, Rose's wings faded yellow to green however in game her wings faded red-orange to yellow. During the Dragon Campaign cinematic, Rose's wings changed colour throughout. It's possible the wings had no definitive colour and the colour change was normal.

Weapons

Raiper

Rose's rapier was indigo with red or gold accents depending on the image source. While it varied in size between drawings, it appeared to be somewhere between 100cm to 150cm long. Ingame, Rose's weapon always appeared the same even though he may have been equipped with something like a stilleto.

Dragoon Sword

Rose's dragoon weapon was also a thin rapier. It had large hand guard to protect Rose. It also had red accents and was probably somewhere between 100cm to 150cm long. The weapon may be a transformation of Rose's regular raiper or it may be a completely new weapon that Rose may use when transformed.

Dragon Buster

Rose was given the Dragon Buster by Lloyd moments before his death. The weapon had the power to kill dragons and was the weapon used to kill Lavtiz. Previously it belonged to Melbu Frahma. Rose past the blade onto Zieg when they decided to destroy the God of Destruction together. The blade did not appear to have any tangable form and was more like fire than steel. The blade could also retract into the hilt and the hilt also appeared to have tentacle-like pieces that connected to the user's arm.
