Ghost Ship
"We won't give you Princess Louvia! We'll protect her even if it costs our lives!"
The ghost ship was a phantom left behind by the Black Monster. It was once a royal ship of Mille Seseau, the Saint Louvia, that carried the infant Princess Louvia as she fled from Neet. During the cinematic, a skull wearing a crown is shown. It is possible the ship was also carrying the king of Mille Seseau, although a king was never mentioned. While Neet was being destroyed, the ship was attempting to flee, possibly to Tiberoa. However back in Neet it was revealed by Luanna's mother that Louvia had left by ship to escape. The Black Monster quickly departed and found the ship at sea. It then killed everyone on board including the princess.
Crash at Sea
"We couldn't protect...the princess, so we couldn't finish dying. Please destroy the fear...please send the souls of the knights to rest. "
During the trip to Furni, the Queen Fury was rammed by the ghost ship. It may have come after Rose or it could have responded to Shana's presence. Shana ended up on the ship after the crash and the group quickly went looking for her. Alone, skeletons began to attack her when all of a sudden ghost knights appeared and destroyed the skeletons. They turned to Shana and bowed before disappearing. It was obvious the knights meant to protect her and the ship was not what it seems. Both Meru and Shana desired to learn more about ship.
As the party explored the ship more ghost crewmen appear and faded, exclaiming that didn't want to die, that they would be killed and they needed help. It's possible that the ghosts were also responding to Rose's presence as it would have been much like that of the Black Monster's. Entering the Captain's Cabin, they saw a picture of a woman with a infant. The captain appeared, also a ghost, and asked for help. He revealed that everyone had been killed by the Black Monster. Because they couldn't protect the princess, they couldn't finish dying. The knights were still trying to protect the princess and the crew was still trapped by their fear. The captain asked them to send their souls to rest.
Intimate Knowledge
"The Black Monster!! How much does he have to kill before he satisfies himself!?"
Rose remained silent during this period. Obviously, she knew everything about the ship as she was the one to destroy it. Rose did not enjoy her role as the Black Monster and seeing the remnants of her handiwork was not a fond experience. Rose was attacked by the ghost knights several times even though they cannot harm her. The knights could tell Rose was the monster even though the rest of the party cannot. Dart is angered during these encounters as he had also experienced the Black Monster's destruction. However Dart's words pained Rose. To Dart, it seemed like the Black Monster was killing for pleasure while Rose knew the truth. Hearing those words from a man she had feelings for hurt Rose and caused her to almost reveal that identity to the party. She was able to correct herself and regain control over her emotions but that did not make the experience any more pleasant.

"Oh my, you are...? Alive...Oh lord. It was not in vain. I have been wandering for 18 years and longing for you.
The group was ambushed by the Ghost Commander and his most loyal knights. They accused the group of trying to kill the Princess. It seems they were trapped in an endless cycle, thinking the princess was still alive and doing everything they could to protect her. Dart did not understand why they keep calling them the Black Monster, though Rose understood completely. It was Rose's influence that caused them to attack. The knights stopped their attack when they saw Shana. They were relieved to know Louvia made it and were able to move on to the next life. The nanny also talked about Princess Louvia. The nanny believed Louvia was attacked solely because she was the princess of Mille Seseau. None of them knew the real reason Louvia was targeted by the Black Monster. The nanny was also able to move on after she met Shana.

"(This is the same as back then!!) No!! I won't let go!! I will never let it happen again!!
During this experience it is revealed that there is a secret surrounding Shana that no one, included herself, was aware of. Not only were ancient monsters reacting to her presence, there were ghosts that thought she was a royal princess. Shana was more than just a girl from a small village. While not as obvious, it is also revealed that Rose had her own dark secrets that her new friends had yet to learn. Once Shana was able to send the other souls to rest, the ship was no longer able to sustain itself and begins to sink. The group quickly jumped ship however Dart slipped and began to fall. Rose managed to grab him. The situation, in her eyes, was exactly the same as when she left Zieg during the collapse of Kadessa. Determined to never repeat that loss, Rose held on until she lost her grasp on the ship and fell into the water with Dart. When they next appeared, Rose was nursing an unconscious Dart. She saved his life yet again.

"These tame the insanity of the Dragoon for me."
Rose spoke out loud, revealing her thoughts and emotions about Dart. She also was reminded of the last battle at Kadessa and the deaths of her friends and lover. Dart reminded her of Zieg in almost every way. Though Dart she was able to notice his strengths and flaws, something she had not noticed about people in many years. By traveling with him and his companions Rose was able to act like a normal human again. This brought a sense of peace to her. However Dart reminded her of the bitterness of loosing Zieg. It was unfair of her to try and make Dart out to be Zieg. He was not Zieg. After this point, Rose did not view Dart in any romantic fashion. Dart was important to her however she had no intention of stealing him from Shana. She even encouraged Dart to see Shana when they arrive in Fueno. Both Haschel and Albert are able to see Rose has changed from the experience and calmed down.
While initially it appeared the Ghost Ship was mostly about Shana, it quickly became apparent that it was also a major point about Rose. Not only did it reveal more about her past as the Black Monster, it also lead up to the largest character revelation for her. After this point, Rose became a calmer character and no longer had to be burdened with feelings for Dart.
